The Pomodoro Technique for Long Study Days
· 4 min read
Studying for ten hours straight sounds impressive but rarely works. The Pomodoro technique breaks long days into focused sprints with short recovery breaks.
The classic version
25 minutes of focused work, 5 minutes of rest. After four rounds, take a longer 20–30 minute break.
The exam-prep version
Many aspirants find 50/10 works better for deep subjects like Maths or Polity — long enough to get into flow, short enough to stay sharp.
Good break ideas
- Stand, stretch, refill water
- Look at something far away to rest your eyes
- Avoid social media — it rarely stays five minutes
Track how many Pomodoros you complete each day. The number is a far better measure of progress than hours spent at the desk.
